What have the Philadelphia 76ers shown early in the season?
The NBA season has finally returned following an eventful offseason. The Philadelphia 76ers were in the middle of a big trade trade talks surrounding Kawhi Leonard, to landing big name free agents like LeBron James. Unfortunately, for the Philadelphia faithful, both fell through. Following a quiet off-season, here are a few key takeaways from the start of the Philadelphia 76ers season.
For yet another season, Philadelphia will be without their first round draft pick. Zhaire Smith will be sidelined for an extended period of time dealing with a foot injury. Smith is not the only player to fall victim to injury in the early going; Ben Simmons, Wilson Chandler, and Mike Muscala have been hit as well.
Simmons with back tightness is nothing to be too concerned over, however the Sixers will need the former ROTY to stay healthy if they expect to make any push late in the year. Ben has been sidelined for three quarters against the Magic and missed the game against Detroit.
Without his presence, the 76ers had to ride the shoulder of Joel Embiid and J.J. Redick for a nail biting win against Orlando, and a gut wrenching loss to the Pistons in overtime where Blake Griffin would go off for 50. Injuries are apart of the game, but if Philadelphia wants to prove they belong, it will be key to the Philadelphia 76ers to stay healthy for the remainder of the season.
