Philadelphia 76ers guard Markelle Fultz will have his shoulder injury re-evaluated next week, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The 20-year-old has been out since Nov. 19 and has been diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome. He was averaging 8.2 points and 3.1 assists per game in 19 appearances before beginning his rehab.

Unfortunately, shoulder problems have been an issue for Fultz since joining the team as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 draft. He has only played 33 games in his first two seasons and has had significant shooting problems since coming into the lead.

The guard has shot 28.6 percent from three-point range this season and just 56.8 percent from the free-throw line.

After the latest injury, it was uncertain whether or not he would even return for the rest of 2018-19.

“I can’t say right now,” general manager Elton Brand said in December of Fultz playing this season, per the Associated Press (via ESPN.com).

However, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported on Christmas Day that there has been improvement in his rehab and both Fultz and his agent believe he will play again this year.

Still, the next examination could be important in determining his timetable for a possible return.

The quicker he can return, the more time Philadelphia will have to evaluate the guard and decide his future role within the organization.
